Bukkarayasamudram (Anantapur): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called upon farmers to organise themselves into Farmer-Producers’ Organisations(FPOs) to extract remunerative prices for their produce.

Addressing a public meeting here on Saturday, he said that the time had come for farmers to organise themselves into groups and create marketing facilities for themselves. “If farmers are united and form into multiple FPOs, they can have tie-up with international agencies to export of their produce,” he observed.

He appealed to the farmers to produce quality groundnut as there is huge demand for nuts in Western countries. He said that Anantapur is known for horticulture crops including sweet oranges, mangoes, limes, tomatoes, turmeric and other crops.

Earlier the Chief Minister declared open multiple FPOs, and several agreements were signed by the farmers with corporate companies.The Chief Minister also addressed the industry representatives and FPO office bearers.

MLAs of Anantapur district, MP J C Diwakar Reddy and Ministers Palle Raghunatha Reddy and Paritala Sunitha and Collector Kona Sasidhar were present on the occasion. The Chief Minister later left to Puttaparthi by chopper and from there by a
special flight to Coimbatore.
