Amaravati: The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for Krishna Pushkaralu which will begin on Friday. About eight to 10 lakh pilgrims are expected to take a holy dip every day during the 12 day religious event.

In all, 69 ghats and 14 Pushkarnagars were set up for the convenience of pilgrims. Pilgrims from Chennai, Nellore and Praksam are likely to visit Amaravati ghat.Police set up CCTV cameras at the 69 ghats and they are connected to a Control Room which will be monitored by the senior officials. Sheds were constructed to perform ‘pinda pradanam’ near the ghats.

Depending upon the rush, they will allow pilgrims into bathing ghats and if rush is more, they will send the pilgrims to other ghats to avoid any untoward incident.

The NDRF deployed 400 personnel in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States with life saving jackets to save pilgrims in case of any eventuality. Similarly, fisheries department engaged expert swimmers for the safety of the pilgrims.
