Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday announced that the TDP government would link all the rivers in the State in next three years. He addressed a convention organised here as part of Krishna Pushkaralu programmes conducted by the State government.

While pointing out that the government was already successful in linking of Krishna-Godavari rivers, he said the next target would be of linking Krishna and Penna rivers. He said efforts were being made to mobilise funds for completion of Polavaram project by 2018.

He also added that 10 districts in AP would be connected by Krishna and Godavari rivers. He hoped that there would be no drought in the State if available water resources were used properly.

He said two rivers Nagavali and Vamsadhara in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts would be linked to resolve the drinking water problem and other problems in two districts.

The Chief Minister said the government had inaugurated 12 irrigation projects as ‘priority projects’, and would start more projects later. He announced that Veligonda project would be completed and irrigation water would be provided to Prakasam district.

Ministers Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao Rao, Ch Ayyannapatrudu, Dr Kamineni Srinivas, MLAs and officials of various departments were also present.

He distributed merit certificates to the students who won prizes in the competitions conducted on Jala Yagnam, irrigation projects, water conservation and other subjects.
