Visakhapatnam: The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has made special arrangements for the convenience of the pilgrims attending the Krishna Pushkaralu.

Divisional Railway Manager Chandralekha Banerjee told reporters on Thursday that additional booking counters have been established in Visakhapatnam and Duvvada in addition to the existing general booking counters which will operate round-the-clock.

Face-to-Face enquiry counters and three help desks would be operated round-the-clock in Visakhapatnam and Gnanapuram side for the guidance of passengers and one help desk at Duvvada.

She said apart from the help desks, help line numbers available for public convenience. Food Plaza and Jan Ahar have been commissioned this year apart from 34 catering stalls on various platforms at Visakhapatnam railway station, including baby food.

Deployment of catering inspectors in all the three shifts are being made to check overpricing and quality
The DRM said platform shelters have been augmented to cover the entire platforms and seating arrangements have been enhanced.

Water booths have been increased and vending machines provided all over the station. She said lifts and escalators were put into full operation and battery operated cars made available to the public which will be helpful for the senior citizens and physically challenged.

She said that high speed WiFi with 100 mbps has been commissioned at Visakhapatnam railway station for the convenience of the passengers.RPF personnel will be deployed for bandobast and crowd control at Visakhapatnam and Duvvada stations.

She said special trains, including double decker trains between Visakhapatnam and Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam and Tirupati, have been deployed between August 12 and 23 to clear the rush of pilgrims. The special trains will make 56 trips, the DRM said.
