BJP launches Tiranga Yatra

Visakhapatnam: The city unit of BJP launched week-long Tiranga Yatra to observe 70 years of Independence. Senior BJP leader PV Chalapathi Rao flagged off bike rally. State president of BJP and local MP Dr K Haribabu also took part in the rally. The rally started at the party office near Tenneti Park and culminated at the MP’s office at Dasapalla Hills after passing through the Beach Road and Jagadamba Junction.

Speaking on the occasion, Haribabu said that the BJP will organise this programme across the country to create awareness among the people about the greatness of freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives for the Independence of the country.Similar rallies will be held in all the Assembly segments in the city limits, he added.

BJP MLA from Visakhapatnam North P Vishnu Kumar Raju said the leaders in the past had failed to create a sense of patriotism among the children. Now, the children would be asked to learn about the great leaders like Bala Gangadhar Tilak, Subhash Chandra Bose and Sardar VallabhbhaiPatel so that they will develop patriotism from childhood.

City president M Nagendra said after the country achieved Independence, the history was confined to one family ignoring the other great leaders. Now, the time has come to teach the children about the great freedom fighters ignored by the earlier regimes. He said lack of patriotism among the people led to disharmony in the country and sowed seeds of terrorism.
