Jegurupadu (East Godavari): The management of Sri Ramdas Paper Board Pvt Ltd (SRPB) distributed scholarships to the children of its employees as part of its annual employees scholarship programme held at the premises of the paper mill in Jegurupadu village of Kadiyam mandal on Sunday.

Scholarships worth 5 lakh were distributed to about 125 students and meritorious awards were also given to two students of a school in Jegurupadu village. Rajamahendravaram rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary was the chief guest at the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Gorantla lauded Chairman and Managing Director of Sri Ramdas Paper Board, Nallamilli Venkata Reddy for taking up service-oriented programmes and recalled that the paper mill had contributed immensely to NTR Sujala Sravanthi in 10 villages in Kadiyam mandal.

He complimented Reddy for encouraging students by distributing scholarships to them in a big way and providing employment to 500 families directly and indirectly through the paper mill.

Venkata Reddy said he had initiated the scholarship programme nine years ago. From 25 students who were benefitted then, the scheme has now expanded to 150 students, he said.
