Kurnool: In view of the 70th Independence Day celebrations across the district on Monday, security has been beefed up with special teams deployed for providing additional security and intensified patrolling.

The flag hoisting ceremony that would take place at parade grounds here, was already brought under security cover. Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishna Murthy will unfurl the Tricolour on Monday. Speaking to The Hans India, SP Ake Ravi Krishna said that security measures were in place across the city with intensified day and night patrolling.

He said that police pickets had been posted at sensitive areas and checks carried out at lodges and check-posts. Intelligence machinery had been sensitised and mobile patrolling carrying out random vehicle checks across the city, he added.

The SP said that railway police had also intensified open line patrolling along the railway lines by conducting anti-sabotage checks and parcel bookings were brought under strict vigil.

Passengers’ luggage was screened at both the entry points at the railway stations and the trains were also being checked, he added.He said that dog squads and anti-sabotage teams have been pressed into service for checking vital installations and public places including malls.

Meanwhile, the rehearsals for the Independence Day parade in the district was held at the Parade Ground. Armed Reserve Additional SP I Venkatesh, Reserve Inspector Rangamuni, Reserve Sub Inspectors Mohan Reddy, Ranganath Babu, Narayana, Naresh, Raghu Ramudu and Shivaiah Shetty, Civil, Armed Reserve, Home Guards and NCC cadets took part in the rehearsals for the Independence Day parade.
