Vijayawada: Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao said a national workshop on road safety will be conducted in Vishakhapatnam on August 19 and 20. Releasing posters of the workshop at Deputy Commissioner of Transport office here on Saturday, the Minister said that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would inaugurate the workshop in which representatives of all States and Union Territories and representatives of World Bank would participate. Union Minister for Road Transport will be the main guest to the two-day workshop.

The Minister said that the Union government has signed an agreement of Brasilia declaration on road safety in an international conference in Brasilia last year. The declaration aims to lessen road accidents worldwide, the Minister explained. A discussion would be conducted on the issues, including enforcement, trauma care, safe driving and road engineering in the workshop, he said.

The Minister further said that the State government is conducting such prestigious meeting first-time in the country. Additional transport commissioner P Srinivasa Rao, joint commissioner S A V Prasada Rao and deputy transport commissioner E Meera Prasad were also present.
