​Rajamahendravaram: ONGC is committed to reduce the import burden of oil and gas by 10 percent, as exhorted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said VP Mahawar, Director (Onshore), ONGC, on the occasion of Independence Day celebrations at ONGC Base Complex on Monday.

The company has strategised its operations accordingly to realise the target set by the prime minister, he said.

The company’s top management has approved the induction of two Type III rigs to intensify the exploration and drilling campaign in KG Basin on land said VP Mahawar.

In the next three years, ONGC would be undertaking the drilling of seventy seven exploration wells in KG Basin on land, he said.

Mahawar informed about the company’s 100 crore initiative named ‘ONGC Start-up’ in sync with the ‘Start-up India’ initiative of the government of India. ‘ONGC Start-up’ will enable innovative ideas related to oil and gas sector to blossom, he said.

He added that the KG Basin has been declared as the best performing asset for the year 2015-16 by the company. He highlighted the achievements of ONGC in the last sixty years.

Earlier, he unfurled the tri-colour and inspected the parade organised on the occasion. The programme was attended by employees and retired employees of the company.
