Speaking at the 70th Independence Day celebrations at the Customs Preventive Commissionerate in the city on Monday after hoisting the National Flag, he said augmentation of tax revenue was vital for the economic growth of the nation.
Later, he presented meritorious service awards and certificates of appreciation to customs employees.
Deputy Customs Commissioners N Naresh, D Satish and G S Muralidhar, superintendent G Seetharamaiah Choudhary and others participated in the Independence Day celebrations.
