Rajamahendravaram: Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya said the Central government is giving special attention to Andhra Pradesh and has allocated Rs 1.70 lakh crore to the State in the 14th Finance Commission.Dattatreya participated in the Tiranga Yatra of BJP at Freedom Park and paid rich tributes to Durgabai Deshmukh and other women freedom fighters.

He reminded the gathering that the Centre had allocated Rs 1000 crore in the last couple of years to the State under National Disaster Assistance Fund.Dattatreya said the Centre was ready to construct a 500-bed ESI hospital in Vizag at a cost of Rs1500 crore. He further said that his Ministry would construct ESI hospitals in Vizianagaram, Paidibhimavaram, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Adoni and develop Rajamahendravaram ESI hospital.

The Centre will spend Rs 3,000 crore for the construction of new ESI hospitals and upgrading the existing ones, said the Minister. Keeping in mind the energy requirements of Rayalaseema, the Centre has allocated a four thousand mega-watt solar power project to Kadapa, said Dattatreya and added that an AIMS has been sanctioned at Mangalagiri at a cost of Rs1600 crore.

By 2020, all labourers in the organised sector will be provided with housing and the scheme will be implemented in a phased manner, said the Minister.

Responding to a query, Dattatreya said the Union government will fulfill all the promises made to Andhra Pradesh including the Polavaram project which is a priority for the Centre. He called upon young women to emulate Durgabai Deshmukh and fight social evils.

MLC Somu Veerraju who participated in this meeting recalled the significance of Freedom Park and the role of women in the freedom movement.

Bommala Dattu, Relangri Sridevi, Garimella Chittibabu and others participated in this programme. Earlier, the Tiranga Yatra began at Swami Vivekananda statue at Kambala Tank and culminated at Freedom Park.
