Kakinada: The Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) has always been a frontrunner whenever it comes to nation building -- exploring oil and gas or nurturing schools and building infrastructure in the operational areas, asserted Executive Director- Asset Manager of ONGC, Eastern Offshore Asset at Kakinada, Alok Nandan.

Elaborating further, he said like its quest for oil and gas, ONGC passionately pursues developing and improving the quality of life in the region in collaboration with people and institutions operating in the operational areas under CSR.

He said that the CSR projects undertaken by the ONGC aim at benefiting a larger number of people. He said that the ONGC is providing classroom furniture, drinking water facilities, construction of library room, lab equipments, library books for schools and sports kits, providing sanitation facilities in its operational areas.

The ONGC spent Rs 51 lakh on solar streetlights in Odalarevu, laying of CC roads, drains and culverts at AV Nagaram and reverse osmosis plants and toilets at ITI, Kakinada, he added.

It may be mentioned here that the ONGC has created an Eastern Offshore Asset (EOA) for faster monetisation of its discoveries along the east coast, with headquarters at Kakinada.

EOA is a dedicated business unit entrusted with development of discoveries in G-1, GS-15, S-1, Vasishta and Manik fields of the prolific Krishna – Godavari basin. The ONGC is planning more offshore projects to explore the abundant natural gas reserves.

The ONGC celebrated its diamond jubilee on August 14. As part of the celebrations, various events were organised to draw the attention of the public towards its services to the country in general and the region in particular.
