Describing him as a rare poet with a unique quality in evaluating the works of his contemporary poets and publishing their works, they called Somasunder as a distinct poet.

Pithapuram: Several speakers eulogised progressive writer and poet Avantsa Somasunder as a poet who used words as weapons in an endeavour to achieve progress in the society, while participating in a meeting at Suryaraya Vidyananda Library here on Sunday to condole the death of Somasunder.

Describing him as a rare poet with a unique quality in evaluating the works of his contemporary poets and publishing their works, they called Somasunder as a distinct poet.

His work Vajrayudham is an arrow directed at Nizam’s misrule and against authoritarianism. During his 75-year-old literary career, he penned several important works and also published works of many other poets. The speakers suggested constitution of Pithapuram Telugu Literary Research Center.

Jana Vigyana Vedika honorary president Stalin, Chinuku monthly editor Nanduri Rajagopal, Mahajabeen, K Varalakshmi, Dr Chiranjeevini Kumari, Dr Bharata Lakshmi, Dr Gajarapu Sitaramaswamy and others participated in the meeting.
