Eluru: APSRTC bus stations across the district were fully packed with pilgrims headed for the Krishna Pushkaralu on Sunday. An additional 255 buses were pressed into service from Vijayawada to Eluru to cater to the demand. Despite this, many buses set off jam-packed with passengers even preferring to stand during the travel.

The RTC Deputy Chief Traffic Manager S Murali Krishna said that heavy pilgrim rush was witnessed on August 14, 17, 18, 20 and 21 across the district. He said RTC netted an income of Rs 98, 61,582 through special buses and Rs 1, 12, 16,528 from its regular Services, in West Godavari district during the last ten days.
