With just two days remaining for the conclusion of the Krishna Pushkaralu and the day being Sunday, the turnout was heavy and unexpected. The police appeared to have failed to make an assessment of the turnout leading to chaos on the roads and at the ghats.

Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts people came to the on Sunday morning in a large number for taking holy dip. The roads were packed with the government, private buses including free buses operated by Road Transport Corporation (RTC) and personal vehicles, which caused the traffic jam.

Gollapudi bypass road, CVR flyover, Inner Ring Road, Pipula Road Junction, Kummarapalem Junction, Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS), Bandar Road and Eluru Road, Ramavarappadu Ring and Benz Circle witnessed traffic jam in the city. It took four hours for the police to clear and streamline the traffic. At one point of time, the police had to withdraw the RTC buses to the ghats for a couple of hours.

The buses to Padmavathi, Krishnaveni, Punnami and Bhavani ghats were stopped for two hours to clear the traffic. The RTC officers diverted the free buses from YV Rao Estate Satellite bus station to Pavitra Sangamam via Kothuru Tadepalli, Velagaleru, G Konduru, Kondapalli and Ibrahimpatnam. The pilgrims had a tough time reaching the ghats. They had to wait for several hours to take a holy dip in the ghats.

The police also stopped cars and other four-wheelers going towards Punnami and Bhavani ghats. This caused heated arguments between police and the pilgrims. The police on the roads have lost their cool due to the heavy traffic jam at several junctions.

Members of a family from Nunna village went to Pavitra Sangamam early morning at 5 am and took holy dip and they returned home at 11 am. To and fro journey took six hours due to heavy traffic on the roads.
