Tirupati:The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is gearing up for the three-day Krishnashtami celebrations on a grand scale at its Harekrishna Kamala Mandiram here beginning from Wednesday.

Briefing media about the three-day annual fete here on Tuesday, ISKCON International Governing Council member Shivaram Maharaj from Hungary, who was here especially for the event, said that this year Gokulashtami celebrations significant as it coincided with the 120th year of ISKCON founder AC Bhaktivedanta Swamy and also the golden jubilee year of ISKCON. Accordingly, more social events would also be held in addition to the colourful Gokulashtami religious festival.

Elaborate arrangements are in place in the Harekrishna Shrine here expecting about three lakh people visit the temple for darshan on the three-day festival, he said. Special pujas would be conducted in the shrine, cultural programmes and religious discourses to be held in three days would add more to the spiritual ambience.

Marking the golden jubilee year of ISKCON, Akhanda Harinama Sankeerthanam, Go Puja, Nagara Sankirtan in towns and villages would be conducted statewide, Shivram Maharaj said. Temple chairman Revathi Raman Doss, ISKCON senior functionaries Rupeshwar Chaitanya Doss, Leela Parayan Doss and others were present.

Meanwhile, TTD Sri Venkateswara Go Samrakshanashala has been decked up with flowers and mango leave festoons for the Gokulashtami festival on August 25. Besides, Go Puja, several cultural activities were also lined up by the TTD from morning to evening to highlight the significance of Sanatana Hindu festival.
