Now, the litter-free zone areas will be extended to 60 more main roads of the city, said the VMC Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr M Gopi Naik. He said 200 sanitation workers will be drafted for the duty to lift the garbage 24x7 and keep the roads clean.

He said two dust bins will be attached to the bicycles so that the sanitation workers can easily pickup the papers or other garbage on these roads and dump into these dumping bins. He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is insisting that the litter-free zone areas to be extended to other parts of the city so that the city looks clean round the clock.

On the other hand, the VMC has lifted 1,800 to 2,000 tonnes of extra garbage every day during the Krishna Pushkaralu that began on August 12. Normally, the VMC staff lifts 400 tonnes of garbage every day with the help of 400 dumper bins.

Due to Krishna Pushkaralu, the VMC is using 300 more tractors to lift the garbage to the outskirts of the city mostly to Patapadu dumping yard and Excel plant located in Ajit Singh Nagar. About 100 extra tractors are being used in each shift to lift the garbage piling up due to Pushkaralu.

Sanitation workers are working 24x7 during the Krishna Pushkaralu to keep the city clean.
About 15,000 sanitation workers were roped in on contract basis to work from August 9 to 26. Even after completion of Krishna Pushkaralu on August 23, these workers will continue to work till August 26.

They will leave the city after cleaning Pushkar ghats, Pushkar Nagars, main junctions of the city, municipal corporation schools and private schools, which were used by the staff during the Pushkaralu.
