Suruchi Foods intends to break the record by presenting 12,500 kg of laddu to Lord Vinayaka in Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam, this year. Suruchi Foods has been offering a mega-laddu free of cost to Khairatabad Ganesh, since 2010. Last year, they had offered a 6000 Kg laddu to the Lord.

Polisetty Mallibabu, proprietor of Suruchi Foods said that he was keen on offering a laddu weighing more than 10,000 kg to Khairatabad Ganesh this year which would merit him a place in the Guinness Book but the organisers had rejected his proposal owing to the restrictions placed on the height of Ganesh idols in Hyderabad by the High Court.

Therefore, Polisetty has decided to offer a 500 kg laddu to them this year which would be handed over to the organisers in the presence of Governor Narasimhan and several Ministers on September 5.

The 12,500 kg laddu that would be offered free of cost to Vinayaka in Gajuwaka, would cost around Rs 30 lakh. Polisetty said he would raise the money from friends and relatives.

He would be assisted by 20 people in making the laddu at his home/factory at Tapeswaram on August 28. The preparation of the laddu will be preceded by a Ganesh puja and Ganesh Mala Dharana.

The actual making of the laddu will start on September 2. It will be put on display for the public on September 4 and transported the same day to Visakhapatnam. 400 kg of cashew nuts, 200 kg badam, 20 kg of yellow camphor (20 kg), 38 kg cardamom, 3,350 kg of Bengal gram, 2400 kg ghee and 4,950 kg of sugar will be used to prepare this gigantic laddu.
