He said the Chief Minister should be imprisoned for neglecting the scheme which should be made mandatory on a par with the SC/ST sub-plan. The Kiran Kumar Reddy government in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh had brought in the Act with the objective of enhancing the social status of poor young girls from their birth to graduation.
While Kiran Kumar Reddy allotted Rs 200 crore for the scheme, Chandrababu Naidu has not released even a single rupee for the scheme except for changing the name of the scheme to ‘Maa Inti Mahalakshmi’, accused Harsha Kumar. Stating that the Chief Minister had no respect for the law and legislature, he said that he would file cases against the chief Secretary and principal secretary of ICDS, as well.
The government should immediately credit Rs 2.16 lakh to the account of each girl born after 2013 in the family of a white ration card holder, failing which he would undertake an agitation, said the former MP.
