Speaking on the occasion,  he said various factors like academic growth, staff capabilities, student- teacher ratio, number of overseas students and staff, faculty with doctorates, the extent of research activity in the university, talent shown in discovering new things, university’s social responsibility and distribution of scholarships and so on are taken into consideration to award rankings. 

Guntur: QS Quacquarelli Symonds Middle East, Africa and India director Ashwin Fernandes noted that IITs, NITs and universities are competing with renowned overseas universities and opined that Indian universities are competent to find a suitable place in the global map.He was the chief guest at a seminar on ‘How Indian universities would be able to get world and BRICS’ country rankings’ held at Vignan’s University at Vadlapudi near here on Friday.

He explained the steps to be taken and plan to be adopted to achieve international ranking.University vice-chairman Lavu Srikrishnadevarayalu noted that acquiring international status is easy provided the universities apply their mind and work with dedication and unity.
