Vijayawada: Pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Jayendra Saraswathi (81) was admitted to a private hospital, here on Tuesday, following a respiratory problem. The doctors kept him on ventilator as the pontiff was also suffering from high blood pressure.

According to sources, the pontiff lost consciousness, while attending a program at a temple. Hundreds of followers rushed to the hospital and offered prayers for quick recovery. Doctors of the private hospital and the pontiff’s personal physicians are treating the seer under the supervision of Vice-Chancellor of NTR Health University, TV Ravi Raju.

Personal doctor of Jayendra Saraswathi, G Murthy said there was no need to shift pontiff to Chennai as his condition was stable. He also appealed to disciples to not to worry about the health condition, as the seer would recover within two days.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu inquired about the health condition ofpontiff and directed the district Collector to take required measures for providing medical help and monitor the health condition.
