Vijayawada: Command Control Centre (CCC), which was used by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for overall monitoring of Krishna Pushkaralu from August 12 to 23, will be used from October to monitor the functioning of streetlights in all municipalities and municipal corporations in the State.
It may be noted that the CCC played a vital role for the successful conduct of Pushkaralu without stampede or major disasters.The Transco will connect the CCC to all municipalities and municipal corporations in the State to monitor the functioning of LED street lighting facility.
The State government has decided to install 5.6 lakh LED street lights in municipalities and municipal corporations in the State. Till now, the government has installed 4.66 lakh LED street lights.
These lamps are being arranged as part of the Energy Efficient and Energy Conservation (EE and EC) measures taken by teh Andhra Pradesh government in various sectors, including domestic, agriculture and municipalities in the State.
Andhra Pradesh is the first State in the country to have Centralised Control Monitoring System (CCMS) for simultaneous ON / OFF system for street lighting from Control Room, said Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary (Energy) to the State government.
Addressing a media conference at SE office, Ajay Jain said the government has decided to distribute 2.32 crore LED power saving bulbs in 13 districts in the State.
So far, 1.92 crore LED bulbs have been distributed in the State and efforts were on to reach the 100 per cent target very soon. He said street lights in all municipalities in the State can be switched on and switched off from Central Command Control Centre in Vijayawada from October, 2016.
