Kurnool: District in-charge Minister Atchannaidu instructed the officials concerned to save the crops from withering by distributing rain guns and taking up other measures.

He held a review meeting with the officials here on Tuesday, on measures to be taken to protect the crops from drying in the district. Addressing the meeting, the Minister said the officials have to ensure adequate water and power is being supplied to crops from withering away. He asked officials not to allow single acre of crop dried up in the district.

District Collector Challa Vijay Mohan said that a command control room was set up in the district headquarters to know the problems of farmers and provide suggestions accordingly.

He stated that Joint Collector S Rama Swamy has been resolving the problems of farmers with the active support of officials belonging to Agriculture, Irrigation, Power, RWS and APMIP departments.

The Collector further said rain gains were distributed to every gram panchayat. He said water tankers were arranged for the RWS department to supply water for withering crops.

Around 1,000 rains guns and 1,000 sprinklers were being sent to Chittoor as per the directions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the Collector said.

Joint Collectors C Hari Kiran and S Rama Swamy, Kurnool MLA S V Mohan Reddy, Banaganapalle MLA B C Janardhan Reddy, Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhara Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairman M Raja Sekhar, Joint Director of Agriculture Uma Maheshwaramma, Irrigation SE Chandra Sekhar Rao, DRDA Project Director Gangadhar Goud, RWS Superintending Engineer Hari Babu, CPO Anand Naik and APMIP Project Director Srinivasulu were present in the meeting.
