Vijayawada: Congress party city president Malladi Vishnu said that APCC vice-president Devineni Nehru abandoned Congress party due to pressure mounted by his son. Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, Vishnu said Nehru left the party because of “son stroke”.

He was given appropriate respect in Congress party, but he left for personal reasons, Vishnu said. Malladi also said that the party would conduct a review meeting on September 2 to discuss the political developments in the district.

He demanded an inquiry into the Krishna Pushkaralu works and alleged that huge irregularities took place. He pointed out that the Chief Minister was chanting transparency mantra while Telugu Desam leaders were pocketing crores of rupees by taking up Pushkaralu contract works.

Even the technology initiated by the Chief Minister failed to detect irregularities committed by the TDP leaders in Pushkaralu works,” Vishnu alleged. He further wanted to announce ‘Health Emergency’ in the city as hundreds of people were suffering from viral fevers and health problems.

Many people are getting admitted to private hospitals due to Dengue and Malaria fever, but the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is not paying attention to this problem,” Vishnu said.Vishnu flayed that the VMC was clueless about the difficulties being faced by the citizens. “Citizens gave a big victory to Telugu Desam party in the city.

For the first time, 37 TDP corporators were elected to VMC. But, they were involved in taking up civil contracts and other activities instead of addressing difficulties of the people” Vishnu said.

APCC general secretary Naraharisetti Narasimha Rao said Congress party was like an ocean and a few leaders leaving the party would not affect it. Senior leaders in the district and the PCC would support party workers, he said.
