Narsapuram: Students are the real strength of any university, said Prof Muthyala Naidu, Vice-Chancellor, Adikavi Nannayya University (AKNU), at the inauguration of the HRD centre at Sri YN College in Narsapur.

Addressing the gathering, Muthyala Naidu advised the students to develop employable skills in addition to focusing on their academics, to get good placement opportunities.

He said the main reason behind starting HRD centres at 18 affiliated colleges in the Godavari districts was to provide training, support and placement opportunities to the unemployed youth in the region, in collaboration with Vikas HRD Centre, Kakinada.

Students will be trained for 45 days on various skill-sets and made ready to face campus interviews which would be arranged by the Vikas HRD Centre.

Quoting the examples of Dhyan Chand, Abraham Lincoln, PV Sindhu etc, he asked the students to evaluate themselves and develop their self-confidence.

Muthyala Naidu said that AKNU with one lakh students in the Godavari districts had the largest number of students in the State. He said the purpose of a university was to fulfill the educational and employment needs of students in its area.
