YSRCP rubbishes Sujana Chowdary’s claim on Special Category Status

Tirupati: Brushing aside the claim of TDP leader and Union Minister Sujana Chowdary that the Prime Minister would soon come out favourably on the Special Category Status (SCS), YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) general secretary Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said that it was part of tactics by BJP and TDP leaders to hoodwink the people on the issue.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Karunakar Reddy said Chowdary is making the claim based on BJP national president Amit Shah’s assurance after his talks with him. The YSRCP leader said such vital policy decisions would be declared only by the central leadership like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley not by a political party president like Amit Shah.

He termed Chowdary along with Venkaiah Naidu meeting Amit Shah and coming out the statement declaring that the Prime Minister is likely to declare SCS to AP soon, is part of tactical move by the BJP-TDP combine in the aftermath of Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan raking up the issue, to divert the people’s attention to dilute their anger towards the ruling combine to cover up their failure with regard to SCS.

Reddy said that how could a Minister of State Sujana Chowdary meet Amit Shah to discuss such vital issue like SCS, leaving aside the senior party member and Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and added “it is only a ploy by the ruling combine’ to buy some more time on the issue”.
