Visakhapatnam: The Postal Department is planning to introduce banking services at MVP Colony and Velampeta in the city as a part of its customer service initiative, said senior superintendent of post offices K V L N Murty.

Releasing a postal stamp on Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Visakha Chapter, in recognition of its service on Tuesday, Murthy said the department is extending its service to every village in the larger interests of the people and implementing various welfare schemes like insurance, pension, business parcel service, special postal services, Prime Minister Suraksha Bhima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Bhima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana.

He said they are also issuing rail tickets through Madhurawada post office for the benefit of people living on the city outskirts and the TTD online reservations also available in select post offices in the city.

The senior superintendent said that e-Post service was also introduced by the department recently to convey best wishes on a specific occasion which evoked good response from the local citizens.

Stating that they also launched Customer Care Centre to receive complaints, he advised the public and PSUs to utilise the postal services for the development of the department.

In his welcome address, PRSI Visakha Chapter chairman U S Sharma briefed about the activities of the chapter while secretary P L K Murty said that National Conference of the PRSI will be conducted in the city in the year 2017. All chapter members, including K V R Prasad and N V Narasimham, were present.
