Chittoor: Ministers China Rajappa, P Narayana, Siddha Raghava Rao and Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was successful in saving groundnut crop from withering in the districts of Chittoor, Kurnool and Anantapur districts by distributing rain guns, sprinklers and oil engines.

Speaking to the media at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, district in-charge Minister Narayana stated that Ministers and 9 IAS officers have extensively visited various Assembly constituencies in the district for the last four days on the instructions of the Chief Minister and inspected the functioning of rain guns in farm fields. Narayana said that 75 per cent of groundnut crop on the verge of withering was saved after using rain guns extensively.

Gopalakrishna Reddy opined the need for providing training for farmers in using rain guns. Earlier, District Collector Siddharth Jain has apprised the Ministers about the overall impact on the groundnut crop after wetting with rain guns. ZP Chairperson Girvani Chandra Prakash, MLA T Aditya and others were present.
