Visakhapatnam: Minister for HRD Ganta Srinviasa Rao and Minister for Panchayat Raj Ch Ayyanna Patrudu laid the foundation stone for Vaisakhi Kala Tarangini, located at MVP Colony adjacent to Rythu Bazar in the city, here on Friday.

Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the auditorium being built on the lines of Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad would emerge as one of the best in the country. He said the city is being made as a cultural hub of the State and efforts are on to make Visakha Utsav, Araku Utsav and Bhimili Utsav to be held this winter a grand success.The Minister said VUDA Children Arena in Siripuram Junction would be opened to the public on November 14, on the occasion of Children’s Day.

The second trial run of musical fountain at Central Park would be held on September 5, on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi, he added.Minister Ayyanna Patrudu said though the city has been organising several international meetings and events, no proper auditorium could be built so far. A lot of funds are being wasted on star hotels, he said.

Vice-Chairman of VUDA T Babu Rao Naidu said the auditorium is being built in an area of 1.49 acres with an estimated cost of Rs 32.5 crore. Local MLAs and officials were present on the occasion.
