City decked up for Vinayaka Chaviti
Various organisations are distributing clay Ganesh idols to the people. The APNGO Association distributed clay idols at Patamata and MLA Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao distributed idols at Singnagar.
Vijayawada: The city is decked up for Vinayaka Chavithi. Almost all the residential colonies, market places, main centres and street corners are setting up pandals to install idols of Vinayaka. Youth of various residential colonies are competing with each other in installing idols of various sizes and arranging cultural programmes at the pandals.
Various organisations are distributing clay Ganesh idols to the people. The APNGO Association distributed clay idols at Patamata and MLA Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao distributed idols at Singnagar.
Artisans are also busy in selling clay idols at roadside and market places. Similarly, vendors are making quick bucks by selling material which will be used in Vinayaka puja in houses. Business people are also busy with installing idols and decorating market places by erecting different types of pandals to attract devotees.
Various merchants associations at Besant road, flower market, Vasthralatha, One Town, Lenin Centre and other market places are planning to perform special pujas, laddu auctions and annadanam.Followers of political leaders are fixing huge flexies at pandals and colonies to attract the people. It is a Herculean task for police to control enthusiastic youth at pandals due to growing political interference in Vinayaka Chavithi festivities in the city.
