Eluru: The educational institutions in various parts of West Godavari district are encouraging the usage of eco-friendly Ganesha idols.In Eluru, West Godavari merchants CIC Chamber leaders distributed the clay Ganesha idols at Merchants Chamber Kalyana Mandapam for Ganesh Chaturthi.In Achanta, students from various schools made the clay Ganesha idols to encourage the eco-friendly idols instead of plaster of paris (POP) idols. The Bhavya Bharati Vidyanikethan in Achanta invited students to make clay Ganesha idols to create awareness on the environment. The students brought about 200 idols from various schools.

The Vidyanikethan correspondent, Kolisetty Veera Venkata Tata Rao, said that the school invited students to make clay idols to create awareness among public.

An overwhelming response was received from the competition, he said. Achanta MLA Pitani Satyanarayana would distribute the prizes to the winners in the school premises, he added. Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Rama Rao inaugurated the clay Ganesha idols distribution at 7 Gorila Centre, Anjaneya temple.
