The ‘Plantation and Seed Broadcasting’ is a part of ‘Barren Hillocks Afforestation Programme’. The activity was conducted from September 1 to 3 in collaboration with district administration, Suzlon team, District Watershed Management Authority (DWMA) and Social Forestry department. The initiative also witnessed participation of students from Saraswathi Vidya Mandir School.
Anantapur: Suzlon Foundation planted 55,000 saplings in Ellutla, Vajrakarur and Vidapanakal villages during the ongoing 67th Van Mahotsav. This activity is aligned to the Suzlon Group’s vision of ‘Powering a greener tomorrow’.

Speaking on the occasion, B Venkataramana, Divisional Forest officer (Social Forestry Division) said the district administration has taken significant steps for improving vegetation in the district.
He said that he was glad to see corporates such as Suzlon extending their support for adopting the barren hills for afforestation as per the directions of district administration. He assured of extending all possible help from Forest department in the coming years too.
He said that this project is in right direction to make Anantapur as ‘Green Ananta’. “We firmly believe that such projects will be successful only with the participation of all,” he added.
Suzlon Foundation general manager Dr Jasmine Sofia Gogia said, “The initiative is a step towards improving the green cover in the district and is aligned to our vision.
She said that 67th Van Mahotsav is a testimony to growing global movement for sustainable environmental solutions. She said that the green drive is a small step towards mitigating the climate change and to improve the tree canopy of our neighbourhood and State.
We would like to thank the local administration, students and Suzlon team for their active participation in the green drive,” She added.She said that Suzlon Foundation’s efforts to preserve as well as expand the green cover over its 15,500 MW wind energy installation globally through various CSR initiatives is a testimony of its commitment to contribute towards a sustainable ecosystem for the future.
