Vijayawada: Six nominations were filed for the three director posts in the Krishna District Milk Producers Mutually Aided Cooperative Union Limited, known as Vijaya Dairy. The last date for filing of nominations is September 7 and elections will be held on September 12.

The term of three directors, including its chairman Mandava Janaki Ramaiah, fell vacant this month. Though the leaders tried for unanimous election, the rivals seem to be forcing the popular milk body to go for voting.

Chairman Janaki Ramaiah is seeking reelection from Movva, while director Vuyyuru Anji Reddy filed his papers from Kotha Reddigudem. The Telugu Rythu Krishna district unit president Chalasani Anjaneyulu is seeking re-election from Kakulapadu milk society of Bapulapadu mandal.

Three rebels, who filed their nominations, include Maham Kaleswara Rao (Mukhasanarasannapalem), Chalasani Chakrapani (Ventrapragada) and V Sai Venkata Ramana (Ghantasala).

Interestingly, the TDP District Coordination Committee, which met here recently in the presence of in-charge Minister P Pulla Rao, announced the candidature of Anjaneyulu for the chairman post. He came to milk union office with procession and filed nomination.

Gannavaram MLA Dr V Vamsi Mohan, former MLA Dr D V Balavardhana Rao, District Grandhalaya Samsta chairman E Venkata Ramaiah, AP Water Resources Department Apex Committee member A Gopala Krishna were present when Anjaneyulu filed his nomination.

Election officer L Gurunadham announced that all the six nominations were correct and September 7 is last date for withdrawal of nominations. The TDP leaders have been trying to remove Janakiramaiah from the chairman’s post.

Earlier, they offered the post to the Gannavaram former legislator Dr Balavardhana Rao. However, they could not replace Janakiramaiah who has well established contacts with the milk producers and the milk producers societies in the district. Though the TDP promoted its own panels in the last two elections against Janakiramaiah, they lost further strengthening his position in the milk body.
