Visakhapatnam: District Collector Praveen Kumar asked the tourism department and other related officials to complete the pending works at Thotlakonda Beach so that it can be opened any time.

The Collector, who visited the beach on Tuesday, asked the tourism department to take over the shacks for maintenance and complete the remaining pending works. The beach is being developed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore and will have shacks and restaurant apart from a beautifully laid park and a sit-out.

He told the executive director of the tourism department K Sriramulu Naidu to maintain the shacks and the restaurant till a proper agency was finalised. Later, he visited Thotlakonda top and examined the facilities being developed for the visitors.

After examining the Interpretation Centre being built by thedepartment of archaeology, he asked the tourism officials to complete the toilets which were left out by the archaeology department.

Prior to visiting the beach, the Collector reviewed the construction of 400 metre synthetic track and synthetic hockey turf being built with the government funds. He enquired about the requirement of land and asked the forest department officials to inform him if the turf site fell in their jurisdiction.

District tourism officer K Gnana Veni, housing board executive director G V Prasad, tourism department divisional engineer S Ganga Raju and other officials accompanied the Collector.
