Speaking to the media on the traffic regulations for the smooth conduct of the mass immersion of idols at Vinayak Sagar on the city outskirts here on Tuesday, Urban SP R Jayalakshmi said traffic vehicles coming from Kadapa side to the city would be diverted at Katta Puttalamma temple via Renigunta town. 

Tirupati: In view of Vinayaka Nimajjanam, marking the conclusion of the three-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the city on Wednesday, police would be regulating the traffic on Karakambadi.

Speaking to the media on the traffic regulations for the smooth conduct of the mass immersion of idols at Vinayak Sagar on the city outskirts here on Tuesday, Urban SP R Jayalakshmi said traffic vehicles coming from Kadapa side to the city would be diverted at Katta Puttalamma temple via Renigunta town.

Similarly, the vehicles moving towards Kadapa from here would be diverted via Renigunta from 1 pm onwards on Wednesday.
More than 500 police personnel including 2 Additional SPs, 7 DSPs, 17 CIs, 30 SIs, 33 ASIs and HCs, 400 police constables and 7 special parties were deployed for the peaceful conduct of the mass immersion of idols, SP said adding that 10 expert swimmers, a boat from the Tourism department would be kept ready at Vinayak Sagar and a child care centre near the tank would also be set up.

Explaining the restricts being imposed during the idols procession before the immersion, the SP said that bursting crackers, inciting speeches against other communities, playing music on the vehicles and sprinkling vermilion on passerby would not permitted.

Meanwhile, the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations reached its peak on the penultimate day on Tuesday. This year witnessed more idols with new ideas sprang up while Ganesh pandal at Gandhipuram set up on Special Category Status issue attracted more people.

Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Nimajjanam Committee convener Samanthi Srinivas said all the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the mass immersion of the idols was in place at Vinayak Sagar and also for the procession from four routes from the city to the tank area where the idols would be immersed on Wednesday.
