Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijay Mohan urged teachers to spot the talent in students and impart education imbibed with moral values as teachers are the architects of the future. Speaking on the birth anniversary of former President of India Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary, on Wednesday, Vijay Mohan said teachers are highly honoured in society.

He instructed the teachers to work with zeal and compassion and said teachers have to strike a balance between imparting quality education and concentrating on the basic needs of daily life.

He said that teachers have to strive to lift the prominence of their respective schools vis-à-vis the private schools. Vijay Mohan stated that if a teacher imparts quality education with compassion, then progress of the student will be limitless. He promised to enhance the greenery on the premises of schools and assured support from the district administration to the teachers.

MP TG Venkatesh said that he would strive to construct a residence for every teacher. He said that society has to shun caste and creed and teachers have a pivotal role to play in attaining this objective. Respecting elders is more important than the education we acquire, said TG Venkatesh.

MLC Geyanand said there was a need to talk about the drastic changes that were taking place in the education sector and said he would raise the issue the during the Assembly sessions.

He urged the leaders to fill the vacant teacher posts as there was an acute need for nearly 2,000 teachers in the district. He further stated that many schools in the district were lacking minimum facilities like drinking water, sanitation, toilets and compound walls.

District Educational Officer Ravindranath Reddy said that as many as 6,41,000 students were studying in various schools across the district and the teachers were doing everything possible to groom quality future citizens. Sixty one teachers and 18 lecturers were felicitated on the occasion for their excellence in imparting quality education to the students.
