In the wake of Central Government according only financial package to Andhra Pradesh and not the special category status, protests have erupted by the Opposition party YSR Congress in the state.

YSRCP chief and leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed the media at the Assembly on Thursday where he demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for failing to get the special status for AP.

Lashing out at Chandrababu over his double standards of striving for Special Status and at the same time expressing happiness over the Centre’s announcement of a special package, YS Jagan said that the injustice meted out to AP during bifurcation can be meted out only with the special status.

The YSRCP leader has called for a state-wide bandh on Saturday as a protest against the Centre over the denial of special status and made an appeal for the people to participate in the bandh.

Stating that the state lost a well-developed capital in the form of Hyderabad, YS Jagan pointed out that AP has to build a capital right from the scratch, build an industrial base in the new capital and the special package is of minuscule value to the state as only tax benefits, attractive packages can attract new industries.

He further declared that they would fight until the special status category is achieved.
