Guidelines for studying medicine in Philippines
AMA Higher Learning Consultancy (AMAHLC) in collaboration with South Western University of Philippines organised a press meet on Medical Education in Philippines at Hotel Ilapuram on Thursday.
AMA Higher Learning Consultancy (AMAHLC) in collaboration with South Western University of Philippines organised a press meet on Medical Education in Philippines at Hotel Ilapuram on Thursday. The representative of AMAHLC P Krishnaprasad, said that Philippines is the most preferred destination of many countries like Australia, India, Srilanka and other.
He briefed the guidelines for studying Medicine in Philippines. Any student after completion of Inter or Plus-two can pursue medicine in Philippine by getting through a one and half year Bachelor of Science (BS) and a four year MD programme. After completion of BS the students have to write the NMAT exam to get through the MD programme.
He further said that South Western University of Philippines is the best of all the 33 universities in the country and the most preferred university by the students. The South Western University has got a good number of Indian students and over 1000 students get admitted each year. The NMAT examination is conducted by the Commission of Higher Education in Philippines and it is mandatory to attempt this exam to get admitted in MD course.
It is not necessary for the students to get a good score in NMAT to get an admission in MD course at South Western University. He further stated that several agents have been luring students and are demanding huge amounts in fees. In order to stay safe, the parents and the students should interact with a University appointed Coordinator and pay fees directly to the University. The students should also check the curriculum and standards of the university, whether it meets the requirements of Medical Council of India.
