Visakhapatnam: Global IT sector is changing with new technologies and creating new opportunities to young people, but the organisations are looking for people, who are having strong fundamental knowledge with demonstrable skills, said Tata Consultancy Services Global head of Talent Acquisition and Academic Interface Programme K Ganesan at GITAM University.

Addressing the engineering final year students during pre placement talk on Thursday at GITAM University campus, he briefed how the IT sector is growing. He stated that Big Data Analytics, Social Media, Mobility and Pervasive Computing, Cloud and Robotics are changing the scenario.

One must acquire good knowledge in these areas. He said that young graduates must study the fundamentals in their chosen subject and concentrate on new technologies rather than high percentage of marks.

He strongly sent a message that IT companies are giving career to youngsters not jobs.Furthermore, Ganeshan added that sustainability and survival are two important things in IT industry to grow higher level.

He informed that TCS expanded in 48 countries with 226 offices and identified as one of the major IT exporters in the country. TCS is equally performing in the areas of aerospace, energy, defence, automotive, banking and financial services, consumer products, life sciences and health sciences and consumer products.GITAM University Vice-Chancellor Prof M S Prasada Rao, Registrar Prof M Potharaju felicitated Ganesan.
