Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa directed senior police officials to conduct a detailed inquiry before filing cases against revenue officials on duty. The directions have come following a joint meeting with senior officials from Home and Revenue Departments.

The meeting was convened following growing rate of filing cases against revenue officials, while carrying out their official duties, by people affected during removal of encroachments, ceasing of vehicles involved in illegal sand mining and transportation and the like.

Terming that the revenue and police are two eyes of the government, Chinarajappa who also holds Home portfolio asked the senior police officials to initiate stringent action against the erring police officials showing over enthusiasm in filing cases against revenue officials without conducting proper inquiry.

He also asked the revenue officials to directly lodge a complaint with the Director General of Police, if cases were filed against them. Directions to this effect would be sent to all the district police offices within a week’s time.
