Hyderabad: The three-day Monsoon session of the State Assembly ended abruptly as there was no let-up in the protest and pandemonium for third consecutive day by YSRCP members.
The YSRCP members’ who indulged in scuffle with marshals on Friday, went a step ahead on Saturday as their women members entered into a scuffle with women marshals.
Wearing black dress, the YSRCP members shouted slogans against the Chief Minister and gheraoed the officials sitting in front of the Speaker’s podium forcing them to leave their seats apprehending trouble.
The YSRCP members then climbed on the tables of the Assembly staff and showed posters demanding Special Category Status and threw paper balls at the Speaker.
Though Speaker tried to bring order in the House by adjourning the Assembly for 15 minutes, there was no change in the situation when it re-assembled.
At this point, Minister for Legislative Affairs Y Ramakrishnudu condemning the behaviour of the members, moved a resolution urging the Speaker to refer the video tapes of the members “unruly behaviour” during past three days as well as the newspaper reports to the Privileges Committee and take action against those who obstructed the work of Speaker and attacked marshals. He suggested that such members should be suspended for three years.
Earlier, at the media point, the TDP and YSRCP members came to near blows. Trouble began when YSRCP members declined the request of TDP MLAs to wind up their speeches so that they can also get a chance.
However, taking exception to this, the YSRCP members accused the TDP of trying to stifle their voice both inside and outside the House.
Soon war-of-words broke between the two parties and the security personnel had to intervene to prevent any ugly situation. As the tempers rose, YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskara Reddy was whisked away by the security personnel.
