​Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET)-2016 conducted by the Andhra University in 100 test centres spread over six regions across the State, went of peacefully on Sunday.This was the first time that Andhra university conducted the test post bifurcation.

Member Secretary Prof K Srinivasa Rao informed that of the total 56,450 applicants, 44,381 attended the test registering a 78.62 per cent of attendance. The test, which has three papers, was conducted from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

Earlier, Minister for Human Resource Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao picked SET-1 for the test at the AU Platinum Jubilee Guest House.
The member secretary informed that the test was held in 31 subjects and the varsity authorities deployed 3,820 invigilators, 24 special observers and 112 local observers to monitor the exams.

He also informed that the life science course has received highest number of applications with 6,727, followed by 6,592 for Telugu and 5,775 for chemical sciences, while the linguistics received the least number of applications of 44.

He said the preliminary key would be uploaded in the website on September 20 and objections, if any, should be brought to the notice before September 25 and the final key would be released on September 27. Prof Srinivasa Rao said that the results would be announced as per the date directed by the UGC.

Vice-Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao, rector Prof E A Narayana, registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao, members Venkata Subbaiah and GMK Raju were also present at the SET code selection.
