CPM ready to work with Pawan on SCS issue
Pawan Kalyan’s announcement that he would plan to work with the Left parties in Andhra Pradesh in securing the Special Category Status has come in for strident criticism from the CPI while the CPI(M) said its local unit would take a call on it.

The Left parties on Monday lashed out at the BJP-TDP combine for depriving Andhra Pradesh its Special Category Status (SCS) "which is a justifiable and rightful demand" rejecting the special assistance package as "useless". The CPI(M) welcomed the statement of Pawan Kalyan on working alongside the Left forces.
But the CPI demanded the actor's apology for supporting ruling combine during elections. CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy took exception to the actor’s remarks that the MPs were spinelessand that he would "enter the scene" after every one failed in the fight.
While the language itself was offensive of Pawan, he should have kept in mind his own contribution to the ruling party's fortunes and hence apologise to the people before launching agitations, Sudhakar Reddy insisted.
Sudhakar Reddy as well as Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the CPI(M), maintained that the 14th Finance Commission had not recommended against the SCS and this was disclosed by a member of the Commission himself.
The ruling allies were lying in claiming otherwise and denying the state its rightful status, they said. BJP's reluctance in denying the status to AP was evident and the TDP was shamelessly supporting the Centre in this regard. Agitation for the status would continue as people would never forgive the two parties for their strident anti-people policies.
