Hyderabad: Visakhapatnam to host a three-day BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit on urbanization from September 14 to 16, 2016. The delegates will discuss investments, urbanization, formation of new cities and policies and will explore solutions for the challenges.

Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information & Broadcasting Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu will address the inaugural session. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu will delever the keynote address. An exhibition is being organized on this occasion.

The conference will discuss how to increase the productivity, how to make a separate urban finance system and creation of employment opportunities. The conference will have detailed discussions on several aspects of urbanization which includes National Urban Agenda, BRICS Smart Cities Conclave, Financing Urban Infrastructure, Inclusive Housing and Informal Economies, Climate change, SDG and Urban Environment, Resilient water and sanitation Management, New Towns and Regional planning, and Urban Renaissance: New Reform Agenda. Besides 100 delegates from BRICS, 400 delegates from various places across the country will attend the conference.
