Round-table resolves to fight against RIL’s ‘illegal’ practices

Kakinada: Representatives of political parties resolved to fight against unauthorised and illegal practices of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in KG basin activities. A decision to this extent was taken at the meeting organised at the local NGO home by East Godavari CPM unit here on Tuesday.

CPM district unit president D Sashu Babji who presided over the roundtable meeting said that Justice A P Shaw committee appointed to inquire into the misuse of ONGC wells by Reliance confirmed about the misuse which is worth Rs 11,000 crore. He also revealed that the ONGC has been waging a legal battle on the issue against the trespassing committed by Reliance.

AP-CPM unit State Committee member Dadala Subba Rao observed that hydrocarbons worth thousands of crore were found in KG D-6 well in the year 1999. He alleged that both NDA and Congress rulers colluded with Reliance allowing the company to opt for this unauthorised practice.

Speaking on the occasion, former MLA and East Godavari YSRCP unit president Kurasala Kannababu called for an agitation against this practice at State and national level. He also suggested for a special law to check unauthorised practices like bauxite miming in East Godavari and encroaching of hydrocarbons in KG basin.
