Excise constable dies as vehicle rams into truck
One excise taskforce constable died and two more department staff sustained injuries when their vehicle rammed into a truck from rear side on the wee hours of Wednesday at NH16 near Prathipadu in East Godavari limits.

from rear side on the wee hours of Wednesday at NH16 near Prathipadu in East Godavari limits.
According to Peddapuram Sun Division Police Officer [SDPO], S Rajasekher, the incident occurred when the excise task force team seized
ganja, took the two accused into custody and were returning to district headquarters in Kakinada.
During the journey, one of the accused tried to forcefully stop the vehicle en route.
In the scuffle, the vehicle lost control and hit a truck from rear side resulting in immediate death of one of the constables.
The other two Sub-Inspector T Niranjana Rao and constable P Murali who sustained injuries were admitted to Kakinada Government
Hospital for medical aid.
The two accused A Rajesh Kumar and Sanguttavan from Tamil Nadu were taken into custody and later were handed over to the Excise
Department for further investigation.
