GGH doctors protest against suspension
Speaking on this occasion, Government Doctors Association president Dr.Bobji Syam Kumar demanded the government to withdraw Dr.Indira’s suspension immediately and warned that if the government did not cancel her suspension, they would boycott emergency services from September 19. He said that Indira’s suspension was incorrect.
Amaravati: Doctors in the GGH on Thursday protested against suspension a Dr. Indira for wrongly declaring newborn as dead two days ago. They boycotted outpatient services in the hospital and attended to only emergency medical services.
Speaking on this occasion, Government Doctors Association president Dr.Bobji Syam Kumar demanded the government to withdraw Dr.Indira’s suspension immediately and warned that if the government did not cancel her suspension, they would boycott emergency services from September 19. He said that Indira’s suspension was incorrect.
Dr.Indira said she performed six surgeries when she performed delivery to the newborn who was wrongly declared as dead in the GGH. She said due to work pressure, she has instructed the P G student Dr.Mamatha to take care of the newborn and added when they tested there is no heart beating for the newborn . Based on that they declared the newborn as dead. “ I have not done it intentionally” she said.
When the doctors protested till the evening . The GGH superintendent Dr.Raju Naidu said the issue does not come under his purview. Director of Medical Education Dr.Subba Rao came to the GGH on Thursday and held negotiations with the agitating doctors. He said he would appoint a High Power Committee into it and get the report before September 19.
Speaking to The Hans India Dr.Subba Rao said “ I have appointed a high power committee led by Siddartha Medical College principal Dr. Shashank, and another two doctors will conduct an inquiry in the GGH tomorrow. After getting the report, I will take further action.
