Move to implement ‘Digital AP initiative’ in letter and spirit

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to conduct all entrance exams online. Disclosing this at a press conference here on Friday, Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the decision had been taken as part of the Digital Andhra Pradesh initiative to hold paperless examinations.

As part of this initiative, all common entrance examinations will be made online from next year, the minister said. Initially, two common entrance examinations would be held on pilot basis for which the details are being worked out. This will help the government to identify the shortcomings and to take corrective measures and then to roll out a full-fledged mechanism to make all CET examinations online, he said. For this, a committee would be constituted to oversee the implementation of the programme, the minister said.

The minister said the state would be implementing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) from the next academic year. He further said keeping in view the infrastructure needs of the universities, the government has released Rs 190 crore. For effective financial management, it has also decided to appoint two financial officers in each of the state universities, the minister said.
