Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishnamurthy appreciated Superintendent of Police (SP) Ake Ravi Krishna for taking an initiative to create awareness about eye donation. He participated as a chief guest for the mega eye donation camp held at K V Subba Reddy College of Engineering for Women here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister assured the SP of providing a toll free number for eye donation registration after discussing with the Health Minister.

Krishnamurthy further stated that he will stand by the police and extend the required support sought by them. He urged the support of print and electronic media for giving wide coverage for eye donation. The SP thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for extending support to the developmental works at Kappatralla village. “I was deeply moved after seeing the plight of the people at Kappatralla village,” he added.

He stated that he had developed the village with the support of the villagers under the smart village scheme introduced by the government. He thanked all those families, who have come forward to donate eyes of their beloved and assured of extending support to them on behalf of the Police department.

Ravi Krishna urged the police staff to behave gently with the complainants, who visit police stations. As many as 1,500 students have signed the eye donation agreement forms on the occasion. Krishnamurthy handed over around 1.52 lakh eye donation agreement forms to the Indian Red Cross Society.

Officer on Special Duty Ravi Prakash, Red Cross Society Chairman Srinivasulu, K V Subba Reddy College of Engineering for Women principal K V Subba Reddy, College Chairman Ashok Vardhan Reddy, Divisional SPs, Circle Inspectors and students of K V Subba Reddy Engineering College as well as students from other colleges from the district have participated in the mega camp.
