Dwaraka Tirumala: Andhra Pradesh Animal Husbandry Department organised a unique beauty contest for the animals. Animals which produce high yield of milk and the animals with high endurance in agriculture related works have been showcased in this event.

The competition was held at the agriculture market near Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple here on Sunday. As many as 250 cattle from 13 districts took part in the show. Cows from popular breeds like Ongole, Giri, Punganuru, Kapila, Murrah, Malnadu Gidda and others participated in the contest.

T Chakrapani, a farmer from Prakasam district, said that the price of fodder was so expensive that small and marginal farmers were unaffordable. He requested the government to extend financial assistance to meet the expenses.

Jayakrishna, another farmer from Krishna district said unable to bear the fodder expenses, farmers were discouraged from rearing farm animals. K Satti Raju, a farmer from East Godavari district, said that the yield of crop and milk would increase if government ensures help.

Ministers P Sujatha, Ayyannapatrudu, Prathipati Pulla Rao and MLA Mullapudi Bapiraju gave away prizes to the winners.
